Application Software Engineer

The Role

Our Platform team builds unified experiences for our entire product suite. Our focus is authentication and authorisation systems. Choosing this team, you will join a group of senior engineers with a customer-first approach to creating tools and sharing knowledge.

As a backend engineer, you’ll use the latest technologies to resolve platform-wide problems and build a high-quality authentication/authorisation service that is secure, reliable and scalable.

In this role, you will be developing systems and libraries that are used across the platform, and you will have a huge impact on the future development of these solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Help identify requirements and production of specifications for our technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, and deliver new features in our Identity (authentication / authorisation) and related services.
  • Foster team expertise, mentoring teammates and contributing to the creation and maintenance of accurate technical documentation.
  • Create and maintain a development environment for efficient testing and integration.
  • Participate in team knowledge management and make recommendations for continuous improvement of SDLC.

About You

  • You are proficient in Ruby and have experience in developing authentication and authorization solutions in large-scale environments. Concepts such as SSO and ReBAC are not strangers, and you know about their modern applications, such as OpenID Connect and OAuth 2.
  • You have an understanding of security concerns in web applications.
  • You have a strong understanding of different software development practices and infrastructure, and how each can help ship more value to customers.
  • You have the ability to meet both technical and customer needs, and understand when it’s worth refactoring versus good enough to ship.
  • You’re a strong communicator and understand how to communicate in a remote/asynchronous environment.

Nice to have

  • You have experience working within a service-oriented architecture and Docker. 
  •  Ideally, you also have some experience with AWS Cognito.
