The dynamic IT environment created by changing business needs and shifting technology capabilities requires continuous management of software solutions to protect and expand their value. The Application Support Engineer role is critical to addressing these emergent issues and demands for changes in software solutions that preserve the investment in and value generated by key corporate business systems. The Application Support Engineer role is focused on a proactive support model for critical corporate applications within the GP Strategies organization.
Training in specific technical areas is provided through team-base knowledge transfer and upskilling so that Application Support Engineers have the capabilities to affect positive outcomes for the health and stability of business systems they manage.
In addition, the Application Support Engineer’s close work with application developers can provide opportunities for advancement into more advanced areas of application administration and development.
o Inspects performance, reliability, security and costs of various corporate applications and platforms
o Develops monitoring analytics to detect emerging application issues before they impact system users
o Raises critical issues to developers and ITS management
o Handle escalated Service Desk incidents to resolve user and application functional and performance issues
o Engage users, SMEs and Product Owners to improve adoption, effectiveness and knowledge
o Develop basic job aides and knowledge resources for application users
o Inform development teams on optimizations based on user feedback and lessons learned
o Handle application Service Requests that require administrative access
o Perform basic application enhancements to address time-sensitive business needs
- Understanding of and facility with modern web-based business applications.
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis on IT systems technical and user issues.
- Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
- Excellent organizational and communications ability; ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Comfortable working with senior executives and staff
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
