Position Location

This position is eligible for hybrid (office/remote) working arrangement and flexible working hours. You can be located near anyone of HMC's California locations including, Los Angeles, Ontario, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, or San Jose.

Job Summary

The Architectural Specifier/Information Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and preparing project manuals for projects of varying size and complexity. The successful candidate coordinates project requirements within and among the conditions of the contract, the general requirements, the technical specification sections, and the Drawings. The position requires candidate’s ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables for different types of projects and project sizes.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Industry-related field or equivalent demonstrated proficiency. Construction Industry-related-field examples include Building-Related Engineering disciplines, Construction Management, Building Envelope, Building Commissioning, etc.

Minimum 3 years working as an Architectural Specifier/Information Specialist in Architecture or a Construction Industry-related field.

Construction Documents Technology (CDT) certification.

Other Requirements and Job Responsibilities

Communication and Collaboration

  • Review conditions of the contract, drawings, and technical information to develop General requirements and Technical Specifications for the Project Manual,
  • Use of eSpecs specifications writing software and review/markup tools and AIA MasterSpec specifications and evaluation sheets.
  • Work closely with each project team to develop the contract documents at each required deliverable.
  • Research technical requirements for building products and systems to meet owner requirements, code requirements, and design goals.
  • Able to communicate effectively with project team, owners, and contractors verbally and in writing.
  • Assists project teams with responses to RFIs, ASIs, submittal reviews, etc. during bidding and negotiation and construction phases.

Technical

  • Working closely with the Director of Specifications, Architectural Specifier/Information Manager, and HMC technical staff, the successful candidate will:
    • Develop and manage bidding requirements and contract forms and Agreements.
    • Assist in resolving issues in preparation of contract documents.
    • Establish working relationships with product manufacturers and their representatives.
    • Consult energy and building code requirements related to specifications and Contract Documents.
    • Use CSI organizational tools and formats including MasterFormat, PageFormat/SectionFormat and Preliminary Project Descriptions in the development of construction specifications and preliminary project descriptions.
    • Other duties as assigned

The salary range for this position is $85,707 to $128,309

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
