The Assistant Director, Athletics Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing athletics donor communication and engagement activities. (S)he serves as an ambassador for the Marquette Athletics and the Blue & Gold Fund to both internal and external constituencies. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid work arrangement, with time worked on campus as well as remotely.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Assistant VP for Development, Athletics to develop and execute an annual communication plan for athletics fundraising, with an emphasis on increasing the number of donors, dollars raised, donor retention, and donor acquisition to Marquette Athletics.
- Partner with the Assistant VP for Development, Athletics in coordination with Engagement to plan and implement annual athletics fundraising and engagement event plan.
- Work closely with University Advancement Annual Giving team in creation and execution of direct mail, email, and marketing materials for athletic fundraising priorities, ensuring strategy is aligned with other university fundraising priorities/outgoing communication.
- Meet regularly to collaborate with the appropriate fundraising liaisons and Sport Administrators/Coaches to assess and develop fundraising priorities for Blue & Gold Athletic Scholarship Fund as well as Sport Excellence Funds. Continue to collaborate with Administrators/Coaches to ensure we have updated data.
- Partner with University Advancement Annual Giving team and Athletics departments in organizing, communicating, and creating content for crowdfunding efforts in line with athletic fundraising priorities (i.e. Give Marquette Day). Determine when there are gift opportunities around athletic programming (such as reunions, etc.)
- Manage communication to donors at qualifying levels for men’s basketball hospitality and staff hospitality rooms for home games, serve as point of contact for the arena to plan logistics, assist with creation and distribution of credentials annually.
- Work closely with Athletics Marketing and Athletics Communications to align communication and marketing strategies, cross-promote departmental priorities in outgoing communications, and maximize content/promotion for athletic fundraising priorities at all home athletics competitions.
- Work with Athletics Communications and Ticket Office to create marketing materials for a variety of initiatives that involve athletics fundraising priorities (i.e. annual brochure/guide, benefits chart, Blue & Gold Fund auction materials, and other miscellaneous projects)
- Work closely with the Ticket Office to cross-promote departmental priorities and align strategy in outgoing communication with season ticket members who are also Blue & Gold Fund donors.
- Partner with Donor Relations on miscellaneous stewardship project for athletics donors.
- Utilize Adobe products to design a variety of graphics for athletic fundraising events and initiatives (i.e. Give Marquette Day, Blue & Gold Fund Auction, Holiday Assist, event promotion graphics, men’s basketball hospitality graphics, social media graphics, Athletics email marketing graphics, other crowdfunding efforts)
- Facilitate creation of video projects on an annual basis (i.e. annual promotional video/commercial, Blue & Gold Fund Auction, Give Marquette Day)
- Facilitate and evaluate e-solicitation and direct mail efforts to maximize effectiveness of specific segments and constituents in collaboration with Annual Giving team.
- Oversee maintenance for the Blue & Gold Fund website.
- Utilize social media to share athletic fundraising priorities and student-athlete success stories.
- Assist the Ticket Office in communication surrounding the administration of the priority point system, annual benefits program, and the annual reseating process.
- Assist in tracking and communicating both new and existing annual benefits to donors at different levels of annual contributions. Work closely with Advancement Associate to manage the fulfillment of donor benefits.
- Lead Blue & Gold Fund Auction Committee and surrounding efforts for marketing, communication, sponsorship, registration, logistics, graphic design for the annual Blue & Gold Fund Auction with assistance from University Advancement Engagement team.
- Serve as University Advancement liaison in effectively communicating events, initiatives, and other fundraising efforts with Athletics Department on a weekly basis.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
5-7 years of event planning, high-level staffing and volunteer management experience is needed, with marking and/or development experience a plus.
A proven track record of strategic, entrepreneurial and creative success, the demonstrated ability to thrive in a culture that is results-oriented and fast paced and the ability to build strong collaborative relationships across a complex organization is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as budget oversight and management skills are essential.
A commitment to Marquette’s character as an urban institution, its goals, mission, and Jesuit Catholic tradition is also needed.
The ability to travel; evening and weekend hours required.
