Provides a full range of culturally sensitive, performance focused services for D1 student-athletes. Has reporting lines within Athletics and the Director of Student-Athlete Wellness (CAPS). Lead program development, implementation and evaluation of assigned sport programs. Services will include assessment/evaluation, mental skill development, short and long-term individual performance counseling, team building and workshops. Collaboration with mental health and medical professionals is key and expected. Performs other duties as assigned.
40% - Essential - Direct Services: Performance Counseling
Provides services to student-athletes and sport programs to to develop effective routines that lead to optimal performance. Routines and counseling services could include but not limited to mental skills development, team building, program culture, development, goal setting, conflict resolution, resilience training, performance anxiety reduction etc. Conducts mental performance assessments and makes recommendations for skill development. Generates/implements treatment plans from evidence-based approaches.
30% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Program Coordination, Research and Training.
Assists with program development, implementation and evaluation. Communicate well with the department head on progress of mental skills throughout the year as it relates to performance, collaboration, and themes. Will assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures, reviewed annually. Provides appropriate training to Clemson University Athletic Department.
20% - Essential - Direct Services: Performance Team Collaboration
Serves as a resource and participates as a member of an inter-disciplinary team with Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition, Coaching staffs and Academic Support Services to advise on player performance profiles, mental skills training plans, and overall wellness.
10% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Documentation and Communication
Completes all documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with the documentation time lines. Completes all necessary documentation to assist clients. Provide appropriate referrals for mental health concerns
Education - 1st Masters Degree
Work Exp 1+ years; Experience in working with student-athlete or professional athlete populations.
Certifications - Eligible to become Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP)
Education - Master's Degree - Sport Psychology or Organizational Behavior
