Assistant Director, Service & Housing Operations

Assist departmental leadership with student assignment processes for University Housing, while serving as a primary contact for inquiries regarding assignments. Reports to Director, Assignments and Occupancy Management.

Examples of Duties:


Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Provide leadership for the mandatory housing commuter exemption process. Collaborate with Student Accessibility Services as needed for medical/ADA commuter exemption petitions, as well as administering the department's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) program requirements for student housing.

Direct department processes and training for room changes, check-in/checkout, room buyouts, contract releases, student/staff application creation and residence hall re-contraction efforts.

Supervise classified and unclassified employees in assignments and the department's area service desk operations; may supervise temporary employees as needed.

Lead department processes such as room changes, check-in/checkout, room buyouts, and contract releases.

Oversee departmental damage billing process and room condition reports.

Work with technology and development staff in the implementation of applications to improve functionality and efficiency of existing processes; assist with software coordination of the housing management system.

Update and maintain departmental documents (applications, forms, security camera plan, floor plans, 3D diagrams, etc.).

Coordinate communications to constituents as related to assignments and facilities.

Collaborate with various departments (University Facilities Management, Living Learning Communities, etc.) throughout the university to promote and reinforce University Housing commitment to student success.

Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.

Assist in establishing departmental goals and objectives.

Serve on assigned department, division, and University committees.

Develop and implement strategies for optimizing effectiveness, efficiencies, and providing good customer service.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


Master's degree in higher education, student personnel, or relevant field. Three years of progressively responsible experience in residence life, housing, or relevant field. Must be able to work nontraditional hours as needed, including evening and weekends.


License/Certification:


Knowledge Of:

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Experience in residence life or university housing.
