Assistant Housekeeping Manager

We are looking for an assistant housekeeping manager to add to our hotel leadership team!

Our property is well-maintained. The current staff does an exceptional job. We are looking for an amazing candidate to add to our team!

This position is full-time and requires working weekends.

Job Summary: The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for directing room attendants of the hotel to ensure clean, orderly, and exceptional conditions in guest rooms and common areas when the Housekeeping Manager is off-property, and to help support the Housekeeping manager with initiatives and upholding company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises the work activities of room attendant staff under the direction of the Houskeeping Manager.
  • Provides training, including safety training and standard operating procedures to all room attendant personnel as directed by management.
  • Ensures adherence to company quality standards by inspecting rooms, including deep cleans.
  • Creates work assignments to ensure all areas of building are properly maintained in accordance with cleanliness standards.
  • Addresses guest complaints regarding room attendant service or equipment.
  • Assists management staff of hotel in assuring room attendant staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures.
  • Reports any maintenance repairs to maintenance staff; records repair information in maintenance log online.
  • Completes follow-up on vacant or occupied rooms.
  • Assumes functions of room attendant or laundry attendant as necessary.
  • Takes control of lost and found items as appropriate ensuring that they are bagged and tagged and handed in to the front desk staff promptly.
  • Performs necessary functions of laundry room including, but not limited to: ensures laundry facilities are kept clean and properly stocked with supplies, operates washers and dryers properly, sorts linens for washer, folds all linens properly, and handles all laundry chemical products properly
  • Supervises, with the guidance of the Housekeeping Manager, the keeping of all storage areas and linen rooms in a clean and satisfactory condition, as well as, stocked with needed items
  • Always thinking of ways to improve the department for staff and guests.
  • Employee will be required to stoop, kneel, stand, walk, sit, lift, speak, and hear.
  • Employee shall be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and up to 10 lbs of force frequently to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move objects.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate with guests, direct-reports, and management.
  • Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, appropriately interpret and follow policies and procedures.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities for all housekeeping staff.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prepare reports and documentation and training materials for direct-reports.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, based on the needs of the hotel, and direction of the housekeeping manager. Weekend availability is a must.
  • Takes ownership of the Housekeeping Department, when the Housekeeping Manager is off-property.

Reports To: Executive Housekeeping Manager (psst....her name is Sharry, and she is amazing)

  • Status: Non-Exempt
