Position Title: Engineering Technology: Assistant Professor

Department: 2440|Engineering Technology

Responsibilities:


The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Engineering Technology Department invites applications and nominations for a 9-month tenure track position. A Tenure-track faculty member for this position is expected to be an excellent teacher in a cross-section of the following areas: advanced manufacturing systems, lean manufacturing, quality management, quality & reliability engineering, risk management, project management, logistics & distribution, supply chain management, occupational safety & industrial hygiene, robotic systems, product design, innovation, entrepreneurship, healthcare, sustainable systems engineering, transportation systems.

All faculty participate in departmental, college, and university service, and student advising activities. The candidate should have a robust academic record, who will be an active educator in their field, serve as a mentor to students, work with colleagues to assess and improve curricula, conduct research and/or creative works in respective area of specialization(s). The candidate is expected to develop a strong, funded research program and demonstrate institutional citizenship through active engagement at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.

ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT:
The Department of Engineering Technology is one of six departments in the College of Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The department has a very strong ATMAE accredited undergraduate program and a growing graduate program. The department offers a B.S. in Engineering & Technology Management and an M.S. in Systems Technology. The undergraduate and graduate programs have several focus areas that include automation and control, project management, construction management, safety, quality control, manufacturing, CAD/CAM, fluid power systems, materials.

The College of Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has over 1600 students, as of fall 2022, and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in all engineering departments and an M.S. in Systems Technology in the Department of Engineering Technology.

The University is the largest in the University of Louisiana System with about 850 faculty members and over 19,000 students, including undergraduates, graduates, and non-degree seekers. Qualifications:


Successful candidates must possess a terminal degree in engineering management, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, operations research, technology management, or a related field at the time of appointment. Competitive candidates will demonstrate the ability to develop an independent, rigorous, externally funded research program.

Applicants should be willing to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction, and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate student research. The candidate should demonstrate ongoing intellectual competence and professional development. Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations. Applicants are expected to describe their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through their teaching, and/or service activities.
