About Student Affairs
Student Affairs at Virginia Tech fosters a community where each student creates a customized experience to meet their goals. Building on our motto of Ut Prosim (that I may serve), Virginia Tech is dedicated to serving in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence. We seek candidates who adopt and practice our Principles of Community, which are fundamental to our ongoing efforts to increase access and inclusion and to create a community that nurtures learning and growth. We are actively seeking people to join our community and help us prepare leaders for the world. Our people in Student Affairs are committed to student well-being and assuring that all students Experience VT by demonstrating, supporting, and operationalizing our Aspirations for Student Learning. If you are someone dedicated to ensuring student success, then we want you to consider being a part of our team!
About Student Conduct
The team in Student Conduct educates students about community expectations and values. We apply a comprehensive approach of informal and formal options to uphold standards, foster personal growth, and promote a civil learning environment. As a team, we approach our work through five core values: Student-Centered, Learning-Focused, Relationally Driven, Community Minded, and Administratively Sound. We do this in the spirit of living the expressed values of our department, university, and higher education community. We strive to balance the needs and concerns of individuals involved in and connected to our process, as well as those of the larger community.
About Residential Well-being
Students come first in Residential Well-being, and we’ve refocused structures, functions, roles, and processes with that in mind. To start, we separated housing functions to ensure that our Residential Well-being team can focus solely on fostering community, building relationships, and supporting students’ well-being and success, while working collaboratively with colleagues in housing and facilities. And in our new model, professional staff and student leaders are assigned to a group of students, rather than to buildings. We want every student to feel that they belong and to develop deep, meaningful relationships across difference. And we know that well-being must be built and sustained through relationships. So we’re breaking down our large on-campus population of approximately 10,000 students into smaller groups of 2,000 students. And we’re breaking down our smaller groups of 2,000 students into even smaller groups of 150 students, who will be supported by student leaders for inclusion and belonging, well-being, and ExperienceVT.
