Associate Director - Information Architect, Scientific Data Consumption (Hybrid)

Job Description

As SDC information architect you will be responsible for the design and governance of information flow and structure that ensures efficient movement and transformation of data and high reusability of resulting data assets in support of Discovery, Pre-clinical , Translational Medicine(DPTM) , Developmental Sciences and Clinical supplies(DSCS).

The Scientific Data Consumption Product Line (SDC) provides a combination of technology, infrastructure, software, and personnel to support large scale scientific data consumption and computing comprising of the Scientific Data Platform, Modeling and Machine Learning Platforms, High Performance Computing (HPC) workflows, and “experience” products such as visualization, modeling workbenches, and analytics development environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Gain and maintain strong understanding of information needs in support of digital transformation of research and development sciences

  • Develop understanding for internal and external sources of data that supports DPTM and DSCS.

  • Assist in developing a data strategy that supports business strategy for DPTM and DSCS.

  • Architect and design , mapping, data flows, lineage and transformations in support of digital transformation

  • Incorporate data standards and identify and advance standardization that unlocks business value

  • Assist in implementing governance model and provide input to highlight opportunities for data governance

  • Participate in requirement engineering and working groups and collaborate with business leads, operations, SMEs, technologists, and governance teams

  • Develop conceptual, logical, physical models and metadata solutions and validate the models with spec by use case examples

  • Working with product and technology teams to understand requirements and partnering with Engineering team to execute the models

  • Unify data concepts across different scientific domains

  • Work with information architecture practice leads across divisions to develop information architecture best practices and contribute to enterprise data strategy

  • Work with enterprise data enablement team to influence people process and technology capabilities in support of data driven enterprise value

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years hand-on experience in information management in support of business goals in a large enterprise

  • 2-3 years of experience in information architecture in a complex business domain with structured and unstructured data

  • Deep understanding of information architecture, keen eye for business data and problem-solving solutions on an enterprise level

  • Prior experience in complex data engineering a plus

  • Extensive experience in UML/relational/hierarchical and business data analysis

  • Hands-on modeling expertise using Erwin or Enterprise Architect and metadata management tools

  • Pharmaceutical drug discovery and pre-clinical development experience.

  • Knowledge of Data Management methodologies involving architecture, modeling, storage, security

  • Prior experience in data integration, interoperability, and data quality solutions.

  • Analytical and problem solver, excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree in preferably in Computer Science, or related

  • Certification in Information Architecture / Modeling is a plus

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5,2023 our U.S. Hybrid work model will be as follows: 1. Three total days on site per week: Tuesday and Wednesday – plus one additional day of choice based on what works best for organizations and/or teams. 2. Fridays will formally be a remote-working day unless business critical tasks require onsite presence.

Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected salary range:
