About the Team:

This role will join the highly successful, award winning Performance Marketing Team. Metaphorically, this team supplies the fuel to our unicorn rocket ship. In practice, this team uses data, analytics, and a variety of marketing strategies to promote a product that helps people find smarter financial advice, and positively impacts their lives. Our performance marketing team operates on an iterative, test and learn basis. Every dollar spent is evaluated based on ROI and the quality of the user experience. About the Job:

SmartAsset is looking for a numbers-driven Associate Manager to manage direct response, lead generation marketing initiatives across native and programmatic platforms. This person is first and foremost a performance marketer, with experience in negotiating, buying, and managing native and programmatic ads. Much of your time will be spent planning, reporting, optimizing, testing and forecasting campaigns based on performance metrics such as CVR, CPA, ROI & Lead Quality.

The right candidate has a sharp, quantitative mind, obsessed with achieving profitability and scale. You have an affinity for behavioral psychology and operate a disciplined, quantitative testing regime. You spend your time brainstorming new marketing approaches, creative, ad copy, split tests and landing page optimizations. You're strong in data analysis and highly proficient in Excel.

You'll bring expertise in managing multi-million dollar budgets to hit profitability targets, preferably with a background in lead generation. A successful candidate should be a direct-response digital marketing professional, highly analytical, and committed to making data-driven decisions. The performance of every marketing dollar we spend is tracked and measured and you should have a successful record of scaling businesses accordingly. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Paid Acquisition.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the planning and execution of ROI-positive lead generation campaigns that motivate consumers to engage with financial products and services online
  • Manage digital media buys directly with publishers and hands on in native and programmatic platforms (e.g.DV360, Yahoo, Taboola, Outbrain)
  • Optimize existing media buys and scout new opportunities to find incremental scale
  • Work with internal and external media partners to optimize campaigns, increase efficiency and scale through iterative testing
  • Lead new tests and experimentation across ad platforms, bid & audience strategies, ad formats, creative and landing pages
  • Continuously uncover new opportunities and test into them, gauging lead quality and increasing investment accordingly
  • Collaborate with data & analytics teams to automate and govern reporting dashboards

Skills / Experience You Have:

  • 2+ years of media buying experience, preferably working with direct sponsorships, and experience with programmatic platforms such as DV360, Taboola, Outbrain or Yahoo Gemini
  • Experience negotiating direct partner deals on CPM, CPC, or CPA basis
  • Firm understanding of key digital marketing concepts such as CPC, CTR, CVR, CPA and ROAS and how they are impacted by campaign adjustments, optimizations, and external factors
  • Hands on experience with paid media platforms as well as a working knowledge of click/ user behavior and its correlation to marketing funnels
  • Strong quantitative background. Highly proficient with Excel and in data analysis

Skills / Experience Preferred:

  • Technically adept with a pulse on trends and innovations within ad-tech
  • Experience with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Campaign Manager 360, Tableau
  • Experience with landing page optimization
  • Ability to synthesize information about disparate ad sources and find winning approaches to new media buys
  • Experience trafficking creative, tracking URLs, and responsible for conversion event accuracy of campaigns
  • Record of hitting financial targets, revising forecasts where necessary, and communicating these to leadership
