What is special about this role:
We're looking for a skilled generalist to join the Strategy & Business Operations team to help define, evaluate, and deploy critical initiatives across the business. As part of a small team that works closely with the leadership team, you will have a front-row seat to the inner workings of how a company makes strategic decisions to execute on a shared vision. You will get your hands dirty across multiple disciplines – from strategy and finance, to business development and science. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter who has a strong foundation in life sciences, is energized by the unknown, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
As a Associate Manager/ Manager, Strategy & Business Operations you will:
Develop insightful analyses and presentations to inform data-driven decision-making
Conduct research to validate hypotheses and identify opportunities for company growth
Build financial models to support high-impact business decisions and deal activity
Work alongside leadership to evaluate strategic opportunities to accelerate the business (e.g., new product offerings, strategic partnerships, acquisitions, etc.)
Help drive strategic planning process to map out long-term company goals, with path to get there
Contribute to development of Board meeting materials, and investor presentations as needed
Maintain robust market intelligence resources informed by evolving knowledge of industry trends
Always be where the fire is hottest - jump in to help solve the most critical challenges
About you:
BA or BS degree
2–4 years of experience in consulting, business operations, strategic finance, or in a similar role at a high-growth company; experience in the life sciences industry preferred
Analytical and structured thinker who can break down ambiguous asks into concrete plans
Adaptable to shifting priorities, but can bring stability to a dynamic environment
Biased towards action, with an intuition for when is 'good enough' to ship a deliverable
Capable of owning the details, while still keeping the big picture in mind
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to tell a story focused on insights and data, not just a summary of data alone
Mission-oriented, with a demonstrated interest in healthcare
Strong desire for personal growth and a natural curiosity
Pluses:
Highly proficient with G Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides), macOS; Tableau experience a plus
Comfortable developing business recommendations despite imperfect information

Expected Pay For This Role:
There are 3 distinct parts to your Helix offer: 1) Base Salary 2) Annual Bonus 3) Equity
Expected Helix Base:
Associate Manager - $76,000 - $115,000
Manager - $113,000 - $171,500
Expected Helix Discretionary Annual Bonus: 10% of your annual salary
Equity: We offer generous equity at Helix. If you receive a Helix offer your recruiter will book dedicated time with you to educate you on our equity model.
The salary range above is our reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role across US locations. Actual starting pay will be based on non-discriminatory job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about your specific work location salary range during the hiring process.

What To Expect During Your Onboarding Week:
We want to make sure your first week is spent learning the foundations. You will be invited to live orientation sessions and spend time with your hiring manager developing your individual roadmap to success. This experience will include sessions that cover your benefits, security & privacy training, an introduction to the OKR framework used at Helix and our communication tools and norms.
What To Expect During Your First 90 days:
First 30 days:
familiarize yourseld with Helix's business model, long-term strategy, and key competitors (and how Helix compares/contrasts)
familiarize yourself with existing set of internal market intelligence resources
Assist on ongoing ad hoc projects with Strategy team, or with other Commercial teams (such as Life Sciences)
Day 30 - 60:
Begin to own resources within the Helix market intelligence database geared towards life sciences (e.g., RWE companies, data aggregation platforms, data asset values), and continually update / share out learnings as needed
Complete a life sciences-related research brief for the Strategy team's bi-monthly check-ins with the CEO and CFO
Support the CEO on external conversations through background research, deal analysis, etc.
Day 60 - 90:
Contribute to material development for quarterly board process
Own monthly updates on key metrics for the Finance KPI dashboard
Begin to synthesize learnings from leadership's research asks into longer-term business recommendations
Plug into life sciences-related business operations, and take on project management responsibilities as needed
