Associate Underwriter - Monoline Workers Compensation

Summary of Responsibilities
Support the underwriting and loss control departments by developing the understanding of risk evaluation, account pricing, and relationship building with agency partners and insureds.

  • Accept or decline risks.
  • Evaluate risks and information concerning risks such as inspection reports, credit reports, location and hazards.
  • May examine loss experience of producers in territory.
  • Assist in meeting profitability and production objectives by underwriting and entering new business submissions, evaluation and review of prior carrier loss runs, understanding and evaluating exposures related to individual risks, and process most policy change requests.
  • Assist in the daily workflow of assigned Argent underwriters.
  • Participate in agency meetings, events and with loss control representatives during service calls and prospect surveys.
  • Participate and/or lead practice group, coordinate and document meetings.
  • Maintain and develop customized reports for loss control representatives to share with accounts.
  • Present and review of accounts during production and account renewal meetings.
  • Work directly with accounts in setting up and maintaining access to online portal for claims reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with agencies in the development of underwriting and exposure information and support attainment of written premium goals.
  • Submits complex, unusual risks and those exceeding underwriting authority to a more senior underwriter or manager for approval.

Preferred Experience and Skills
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task
One year of insurance experience preferred

Preferred Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field
