🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! đŸš€ As a Core Design Physicist, you will analyse and optimise the reactor core and associated systems. This involves building detailed models of the core, interpreting results, and providing critical insights to guide design decisions across disciplines such as Reactor Physics, Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Performance, and Criticality. Your work will play a pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge reactor design.

Your mission:

  • 🛠️ Core Modeling: Build detailed models of the reactor core to analyze and interpret results for informed design decisions.
  • 🛡️ Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure all work complies with corporate, business, and legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • 🌍 Export Control Awareness: Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Export Control regulations.
  • 🤝 Team Integration: Collaborate effectively within a project team, including partnerships with external partners and suppliers.
  • 🗂️Planning and Organization: Demonstrate strong skills in planning and organizing to manage activities and deliverables efficiently.
  • 📦 Work Package Delivery: Successfully deliver work packages to meet milestones.
  • 📅 Internal Milestones: Achieve regular internal deliverables and participate in gated reviews to ensure project progress.
  • 🤲 Team Support: Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior staff members.

Qualifications

  • 🎓 Degree Qualified: A strong academic background with an MSc in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Reactor Physics (or equivalent, relevant work experience).
  • 🏅 Compliance Expertise: Chartered Physicist or working towards Chartership with an accredited body.
  • 🏭 Nuclear Experience: Strong background in reactor physics, nuclear sector, or other regulated industries.
  • 📊 Core Design Knowledge: Proficient in reactor core modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques.
  • ⚖️ Regulatory : Familiarity with UK Health and Safety regulations, safety systems, and criticality safety assessments.
  • 💻 Technical Tools: Skilled in using advanced physics modeling and analysis software.
