Inpatient Facility Coder

Atos – Acute Facility Inpatient Coder Requirements

· 3 years current facility inpatient coding experience for acute care hospitals

o Preferably an academic medical center or Level 1 Trauma center

o Experience in coding highly complex cases, cardiology, neuro, oncology, etc. preferred

· Must have a Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC

o Example: RHIT, RHIA, CCS

  • Experience assigning diagnostic and procedural codes to patient charts using ICD-10-CM and/or ICD-10-PCS in accordance with coding rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology, Medicare’s Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS), Official Coding Guidelines for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience in query writing
  • Maintain standard industry productivity rates for Inpatient coding (2 charts/hour).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality standards of 95% or greater.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology (computer, VPN, MS Office, coding software) to perform responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· EPIC/3M experience a plus.

· FT candidates

o 100% REMOTE

o Schedule: 5 – 8-hour days

o Normal business hours
