Lead Full Stack Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Avero is looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer who will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers as they design and implement against Avero’s various internal and user-facing applications. You will help foster a highly collaborative and quality-focused engineering culture that addresses the complex business problems our customers and partners face. Through mentorship you will help grow the skills of Avero’s existing engineers. You will also play a key role in the hiring and onboarding of new engineers, as needed. This is a 100% remote role reporting to Avero’s Director of Engineering.

What You'll Do
  • Manage a team of engineers in an agile environment, including day-to-day people manager responsibilities of your direct reports
  • Mentor the engineers on your team and work closely with them on their professional development
  • Take responsibility for the technical infrastructure, practices, and priorities within your team’s purview
  • Develop roadmaps, milestones, and goals for your engineering team in conjunction with a product manager
  • Set and manage expectations and KPIs for your team
  • Foster a culture of accountability on the team as they deliver against those expectations
  • Coordinate with other leads and product managers during cross team projects
  • Align teams across departments to achieve strategic goals that you have influenced
  • Build relationships with senior leadership and leverage those relationships to advocate for ideas, initiatives, and your team
  • Lead by example as you design and implement software as a senior individual contributor on your team
  • Occasionally share in on-call duties to support our production infrastructure


What You'll Need
  • Hands-on, expert-level Angular experience
  • Intermediate React experience
  • Ability to integrate with and troubleshoot integrations with REST and GraphQL APIs
  • A metrics driven approach to leadership, mentoring, and processes
  • 6+ years of software development experience, preferably with 2 or more years of technical lead or engineering manager experience
  • A strong commitment to collaboration in a remote-first engineering organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • SQL - we use Postgres and Oracle
  • NoSQL - we use MongoDB
  • Backend system technologies - we use Java, Node.js, Apollo GraphQL, gRPC, and more
  • Frontend system technologies - we use React, React Native, and AngularJS
  • Cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies - we use AWS, Terraform and Docker
  • Experience working within remote or geographically distributed teams is preferable
  • Hospitality experience (technology or otherwise)
  • A love of good food

$130,000 - $140,000 a year

For Colorado* based candidates - The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in Colorado is between $130,000 and $140,000. Final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise. We also offer a full robust benefits package. Because Avero's base compensation is driven by location, we will be happy to discuss a salary range for other locations during the interview process.
