The Fastener Solutions Division of Avery Dennison is a worldwide manufacturer of plastic fastening systems used in the automotive, apparel, retail, industrial and packaging industries. Our three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation is located in Fitchburg, MA. The Fastener Solutions Division is ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified.
The successful candidate will ensure that equipment is functioning and operating at top efficiency and quality. This position is a technical role, responsibilities to include equipment start-ups, monitoring / adjusting machine parameters, assisting in changeovers and handling process and equipment issues. We are looking for candidates aspiring to develop skills in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and corrective action. This role will need to be continually learning and absorbing knowledge from established/senior process technicians and applying what they learn. 3rd shift: 11PM-7AM, Mon - Fri.
Activities may include, but are not limited to:
Run and oversee all aspects of the plastic extrusion process, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of machinery.
Collaborate closely with line inspectors and packers to uphold product quality and meet production goals.
Use precision instruments to monitor meters, gauges, temperatures, and pressures to maintain adherence to production specifications.
Configure machines with precision to accommodate varying production needs and ensure optimal performance.
Conduct regular tests and inspections to verify product quality according to established procedures.
Actively participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, increase efficiency, and reduce waste.
Maintain accurate production records and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or deviations from process standards.
HS diploma or GED required. A preferred candidate will have additional targeted technical education in plastics materials or in manufacturing machine processing
Minimum 3yrs of experience in plastic extrusion or similar manufacturing environments
Ability to interpret technical documents and follow detailed instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
