Avis Greece is on the hunt for an exceptional Datacenter Engineer to join our team. As a key member of AVIS  IT Infrastructure Department, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimization of our datacenter environment.

🎯 Your Mission:

  • Monitoring and Performance Management:

·Infrastructure Monitoring: Advanced knowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios and Grafana. Ability to configure, deploy, and fine-tune monitoring solutions for servers, storage and network components.

·Log Management and Analysis: Experience with log management solutions such as LogAnalytics, Elasticsearch, Kibana or Splunk for aggregating, analyzing, and acting upon log data from datacenter devices and systems.

  • Datacenter Infrastructure Management:

·Design, deploy, and manage physical and virtual server environments within the datacenter.

·Oversee the maintenance and scaling of critical infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking hardware and backup systems.

  • Hardware and Software Troubleshooting:

·Proactively monitor datacenter infrastructure for performance, capacity and health and Perform root cause analysis and resolution for critical incidents.

·Expertise in the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of x86-based server hardware, including components like CPUs, memory, storage and networking cards.

·Hands-on experience with storage systems such as SAN, NAS, and DAS. Knowledge of RAID configurations, NAS protocols (NFS, SMB) and block storage solutions.

  • Virtualization and Cloud Technologies:

·Proficiency with Microsoft Hyper-V

·Experience in hybrid cloud setups involving both on-premise datacenter resources and public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS). Ability to configure VPNs,  ExpressRoute (Azure), Direct Connect (AWS) or other hybrid networking solutions.

  • Network Administration:

·In-depth understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP(S), and VLANs. Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot network architecture at Layer 2 (Ethernet) and Layer 3 (IP Routing) levels.

·Manage IP address schemes, VLANs and firewall rules for optimal network segmentation and security.

  • Automation, Scripting and Configuration Management:

·Expert use of CLI and expertise in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc ) to automate repetitive tasks such as server provisioning, patching, and monitoring.

·Working knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc) to standardize and automate infrastructure operations.

·Experience in planning and deploying automation and systems management platforms (WSUS, SCCM, etc) to streamline software deployment, workstation recovery and improve users support.

  • Storage Management & Backup Solutions:

·Backup Strategies: Strong experience in designing and implementing robust backup and disaster recovery strategies, including incremental, differential, and full backups. Proficient with tools like Veeam, NetBackup, etc for both on-site and off-site backup solutions.

·Backup and Recovery Testing: Regularly testing backup and recovery strategies to ensure that data is always recoverable within the designated RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective).

  • Security and Compliance:

·Collaborate with security teams to enforce data center security policies and best practices (e.g. network segmentation, data encryption).

·Working knowledge of securing datacenter networks with firewalls, IDS/IPS and VPN solutions. Understanding of DMZ (Demilitarized Zones) architecture for segmenting sensitive traffic.

·Experience with data-at-rest (TDE) and data-in-transit encryption technologies to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information.

·Familiarity with industry standards and compliance regulations such as GDPR and SOC 2. Ability to ensure datacenter operations are compliant with these standards and assist with audits.

  • Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA)

·DRP (Disaster Recovery Planning): Experience in designing, implementing, and testing disaster recovery solutions, ensuring that critical services can be restored quickly in the event of failure.

·Clustering & Failover: Proficient in configuring clustering technologies and failover solutions (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server Always On, Hyper-V Clustering) to ensure high availability and uptime.

·Data Replication: Experience with data replication technologies, including synchronous and asynchronous replication for critical systems and data.

  • Participate in in-house or multi-party Projects to deliver new IT systems or optimized infrastructure architecture, run System Integration Tests and write and/or validate technical documentation including requirement analysis, architecture design, testing reports, administrator manuals etc.

  • Educational Background: University degree in Information Systems or Computer Engineering or similar field.
  • Experience: 5-7+ years of experience in datacenter engineering, system administration or IT infrastructure management, with at least 2 years in a lead capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, storage systems and networking technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (IaaS, PaaS) and how they complement datacenter infrastructure.
  • Experience in implementing security patches, vulnerability assessments and monitoring for datacenter assets.
  • A certification such as Cisco CCNP, CompTIA Network+ or Azure Solutions Architect will be considered a considerable plus.
