Summary
The Benefit/Safety Specialist provides support to leaders, and associates, as the subject matter expert of physical, financial and social/emotional wellbeing. Assists with executing department strategies geared to increase associate engagement and reduce organizational cost. They will collaborate with operations to ensure a safe work environment to all Carhartt associates.

Responsibilities
Provides guidance and assists management in addressing associate’s sensitive issues as related to leave of absence, workplace injuries, and disabilities.
Administer and coordinate benefit related programs including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, STD, LTD, COBRA, etc.
Support those enrolled in the benefit plans by resolving claim issues. Educate associates of their benefit options and eligibility through new hire orientation. Ensures all paperwork/presentation material is updated and compliant regularly.
Promote and enhance Supply Chain wellness and benefit education programs such as wellness program, wellness program “champ” program, benefit education and other community outreach.
Research benefit, wellness and compliance related topics to determine best practices. Provide solutions and recommendations. Assist with special projects as needed.
Remain current with trends, and mandates affecting worksite wellness programs.
Oversee OSHA compliance and OSHA logs.
Conduct mandatory OSHA training and mandatory facility meetings/drills.
Lead accident investigations, ability to complete proper reporting and root cause analysis.
Assist associates with medical treatment and understanding Workers compensation, laws and requirements.
Perform monthly safety compliance audit for respective shift.
Education
Associate's Degree Required in Human Resources or Related Field
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Required Skills and Experience
CEBS or other related certifications preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in benefits or HR related field required.
General knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel.
Experience working in a union environment preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to communicate with all employment levels including management and retail partners.
Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Adaptable to constant changing environments.
