In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
Answer phones, greet and direct all visitors
Maintain computer stations and supply cabinet
Maintain and troubleshoot copier machines and printer
Maintain function and appearance of the department office (room 3D) and lab/private instruction rooms as necessary
Assist with placement auditions
Assist with audio, computer, and video set-ups and troubleshoot in all lab rooms
Maintain neat microphone cords and keep track of equipment
Assist faculty member Lisa Thorson with copying and printing tasks, as well as accessibility issues including daily room set-up to allow access. This will involve moving chairs, music stands blocking entry into rooms, hooking up loose cords and cables
Monitor department email and complete requests as needed
Create posters and other advertising materials for department concerts and events
Maintain bulletin boards and pick-up mail
Alphabetize, file, copy, scan, proofread, post schedules, and other general clerical assistance
Assist faculty, staff, students, and visitors as needed
The ability to transition seamlessly from student to employee to best assist the College’s faculty, staff, students and visitors.
The ability to work as a team member and take direction on tasks and projects
Positive attitude and focus on customer service.
The ability to independently manage deadlines and complete tasks on time
Effective verbal and written communication with attention to detail
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Working knowledge with Microsoft Office
Working knowledge with Google App (Mail, Calendar, Sheets, Forms, Drive)
Basic knowledge of social media; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
Basic knowledge of Apple Mac OS operating system
Willing to learn new technology
