The Role |
The Director, IT Data Architecture is responsible for designing and implementing robust, secure, and innovative data architecture strategies that empower our agency. This position ensures seamless data flow, security, and quality and leverages expertise to drive data-driven decision-making and support future growth through collaboration and optimization. |
Responsibilities |
- Leads strategic direction for database disaster recovery, including site and application failovers.
- Directs Oracle database enhancements (like encryption, redaction , masking, partitioning, compression, and Oracle Multitenant).
- Oversees database backups and disaster recovery using Oracle Active Data Guard, RMAN, and export/import methods.
- Executes and reviews quarterly user system access controls.
- Develops and implements backup architecture, providing hands-on support.
- Designs scalable, secure data architectures across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid platforms.
- Assists with end-to-end architectural for Oracle EBS, Linux, SQL Server, and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborates with auditors to establish and implement security controls and SOC compliance for financial systems.
- Conducts architecture reviews, workshops, and system redesigns.
- Establish proactive measures to identify, alert, design, and implement robust system configurations.
- Documents and maintains comprehensive data source overviews.
- Leads data integration efforts, ensuring seamless data flow across systems.
- Researches and recommends new data technologies and platforms (data lakes, warehouses, etc.).
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes data architecture performance.
- Documents architecture designs, standards, and best practices.
- Maintains project schedules, reporting progress weekly to management.
- Manages IT Data Architecture budget, tracking monthly expenditures.
- Supervises Database and Oracle Administrator roles, overseeing appraisals, raises, and training.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to IT teams, promotion knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
Database Management: - Expertise in Oracle databases (19c, 12c, 11g, and earlier), including Oracle RAC, ASM, Active Data Guard, RMAN, and PL/SQL.
- Proficient in MS SQL Server (2019, 2017, 2016, and earlier) and T-SQL.
Operating Systems: - Strong knowledge of Linux UNIX, AIX, HP-UX, Sun OS, and Microsoft Windows Server, including Windows scripting and Microsoft Office.
Tools and Applications: - Skilled in SQL Developer, TOAD, and Oracle Enterprise Monitoring (OEM) for dashboards system KPIs.
- Extensive experience supporting and upgrading Oracle E-Business Suite and SQL Server databases, especially in RAC environments.
Infrastructure and Security: - Proficient in designing secure network solutions and hardware systems, including SAN and ASM.
- Strong understanding of Linux network design and security best practices.
SCADA and Business Intelligence: - Knowledge of SCADA system design is preferred
Software Integration and Standards: - Skilled in software integration and IT standards, optimizing Oracle E-Business Suite performance.
Leadership and Project Management: - Proven leadership in IT projects, managing database/system administrators, budgets, schedules, and reporting.
Business Insight and Analytical Skills: - Capable of analyzing business needs and recommending IT solutions aligned with organizational goals.
Communication and Adaptability: Excellent communication skills; adaptable under pressure with strong task prioritization and project management abilities. |
Education | Experience |
Degree: Bachelor’s degree; Graduate degree preferred (equivalencies will be considered) | Years: Minimum of ten (10) years related experience; minimum of five (5) years management experience. |
