BIM Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The BIM Manager will collaborate on all design projects (optioneering, test fits and workflow) while educating the teams about KTGY’s tech stack. The BIM Manager will establish the CAD and BIM workflow for all design projects and provides technical support to the design studio while developing and upholding drawing standards and best practices. They also coordinate with external project consultants to effectively manage the flow of design documents and BIM models in conjunction with the design studio.

Duties and Responsibilities:

BIM Specific:

  • Manage the development and implementation of CAD/BIM standards (including Interior Design projects)
  • Manage software products including but limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of the products
  • Educate the Design Technology group about design team workflows and strategies
  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies
  • Well versed in interoperability and work-sharing across multiple organizations
  • Stay informed on best practices for use of REVIT, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AUTOCAD and LISP
  • Installation and support of REVIT, Autodesk Construction Cloud and AUTOCAD for all studio members
  • Provide skills training as well as development of 2D/3D content

Project Interface:

  • Support project standards coordination with primary consultants
  • Support model & design coordination with multiple design stakeholders
  • Assist project teams in BIM and CAD set up and organization
  • Create REVIT families in response to project needs
  • Help resolve BIM or CAD issues
  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team
  • Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with IT

Standards:

  • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement
  • Creation and maintenance of the software template files
  • Provide support for plotting, printing, and electronic file submissions
  • Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity
  • Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards
  • Oversee regular activities and provide support to the design team to ensure the standards are maintained in the creation of all deliverables, CAD drawings and BIM models

Training:

  • Provide fundamental and intermediate BIM training to staff
  • Conduct internal continuing education Revit, Bluebeam, and Design Technology software training sessions
  • Provide technical orientation to new hires regarding CAD and BIM tools and standards
  • Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training

Targeted Skills and Abilities:

  • Exhibits an in-depth working knowledge of past and current Revit versions
  • Must possess and maintain exceptional work ethic & communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the drive to pursue continuing education in BIM and VDC (Virtual Design Construction)
  • Proficient in Design Technology software such as Bluebeam Revu and Studio, MIRO as well as Ideate products
  • Working knowledge of rendering platforms such as Enscape, Twin Motion and Lumion, desirable
  • Multidisciplinary coordination experience with emphasis on Interior Design projects
  • Ability to plan and roll-out new software upgrades and manage multiple versions
  • Expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino
  • Knowledge of Visual programming software (Dynamo, Grasshopper) desirable

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in design, coordination, drafting or engineering
  • 2+ years’ experience in BIM Management at an AEC firm
  • Degree in Architecture or Engineering and/or combination of required education and experience
