Sr Associate Buyer - job 1 of 2

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Sr Associate Buyer to join our team. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services across various categories. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate potential suppliers and contractors for goods and services.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with suppliers for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) orders.
• Process purchase requisitions for services, capital equipment, inventory, and more.
• Generate and manage purchase orders, contracts, and blanket orders.
• Ensure the integrity of purchasing records and databases (JDE or similar ERP systems).
• Support implementation of new systems such as ERP upgrades, e-requisitioning, corporate purchasing cards, and supplier diversity initiatives.
• Execute cost-saving initiatives and special projects to identify procurement efficiencies.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing) to develop specifications for procurement needs.
• Maintain documentation to cGMP standards and resolve any purchase order discrepancies.
• Coordinate supplier audits, conduct visits, and support audit readiness.
• Manage the return of goods and expedite orders as needed.
• Serve as a backup for the MRO Category Manager.
• Participate in team meetings and cross-functional collaborations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and 4 years of directly related work experience, OR
• Associate degree and 2 years of directly related work experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 months of directly related work experience, OR
• Master’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing requisition-to-PO conversions using SAP.
• Proficiency in SAP for procurement tasks.
• Strong supplier communication and escalation skills regarding PO discrepancies, deliveries, and documentation.
• Knowledge of Smartsheet or other tools for procurement reporting and metrics (nice to have).
• Proven experience participating in cross-functional projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fully bilingual (English and Spanish preferred).
• Proficient with MS Office and other business software.
