ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT - REGULATORY OVERSIGHT AND ANTICIPATION SPECIALIST (JOB NUMBER: BRA000325)


Business Overview:

The Regulatory Oversight & Anticipation Team, within the organization of the Chief Conduct and Control Officer of BNPP USA and CIB Americas, ensures the highest level of compliance with regulatory expectations. The team sits within the first line of defense and promotes a culture of proactivity and self-identification of potential issues to be more anticipatory of regulatory issues, advises on remediation standards across the platform, and works closely with key contacts across businesses and functions to maintain a coordinated network.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and manage relationships with regulatory key points of contact (Regulatory Network) in multiple businesses/functions and provide strategic guidance in-line with overall mission of the Regulatory Oversight & Anticipation team, including:
    • Identify upcoming areas of regulatory focus, and advise on focus areas for self-evaluation for businesses/functions; independently lead program management for the self-evaluation exercise across business and functions; support regulatory and remediation manager with review and challenge of the self-assessment
    • Assess results of soft-close and close from regulatory exams and provide guidance to support business/functions on their launch of remediation for new regulatory issues and ensure rapid mobilization of internal efforts to reduce “lag-time”
    • Advise on the preliminary remediation strategy to assist the owners of the issue (e.g., Business or function) with the design & development of preliminary remediation strategy
    • Review findings to assess and identify potential read-across opportunities across either A) within the same function/business within the region or B) more broadly across the organization, including at the CIB Global and Group levels
  • For the scope of businesses/functions, independently research, review, and communicate industry trends and regulatory updates; coordinate with the Supervisory Relations Group, Regulatory Strategy & Policy (including the teams in Washington),, Legal, Compliance, and the regulatory representative of each line/entity to facilitate the regular exchange of information
  • Support engagement with senior management locally and globally (as applicable) to receive guidance and drive accountability, including presenting to management forums, when applicable
  • Ensure strong and comprehensive remediation on complex, multipart remediations and provide project management for implementation of remediation
  • Perform analysis on updated and new regulations and regulatory feedback to advise on remediation strategies in order to meet regulatory expectations
  • Develop subject matter expertise from business liaison perspective for applicable regulatory framework


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 4 – 7 years of relevant industry experience, in a Regulatory, Finance, Management Consulting, or Project delivery role
  • Demonstrated ability to take on leadership roles on critical projects and work with senior management
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and business lines and functions
  • Strong organizational skills and command of project management tactics
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present key messages to senior management, and executive leadership
  • Ability to work independently and engage in problem solving with key internal clients
  • Familiarity with the regulatory environment and regulatory bodies and understanding of banking regulations and the regulatory lifecycle
  • Familiarity with industry trends and best practices
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and formal business writing

The expected starting salary range for this position in New Jersey is between $105,000 and $128,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
