Mid-level Software EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000429194Date Posted:2024-07-24Location:USA - Everett, WA, USA - Seattle, WAJob Description Qualifications:The Boeing Company is currently seeking Mid-Level Software Engineers to join the Cabin Experience Network Software Engineering Team located in Everett, Washington or Seattle, Washington.This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) business organization.This position will design and develop our next-generation cloud-based and airborne digital backbone systems. The mid-level Software Engineer will be responsible for designing systems/software applications for scalable, configurable, reliable, secure, and well-integrated with build and deploy tools. This role will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our technologies and ensuring that our systems meet the needs of our airline customers. You will also be responsible for implementing the software architecture, integrate our software with other systems that meets the quality standards of the company and industry. You will contribute to brainstorming sessions to gather requirements; develop strategies for end-to-end process improvement of performance and quality; In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of the software architecture meets Boeing Cyber and Network Security requirements.We work in a casual but professional environment with multi-disciplined teams of engineers that take pride in developing, integrating, testing and delivering innovative solutions. There is long-term potential for career growth into technical leadership or management positions and we value the curiosity, tenacity and imagination our engineers bring to our teams each day.This position requires 10% travel.Position Responsibilities:• Be a product owner, you will own the full software lifecycle product development such as requirement management, design, review, coding, verification, certification, and deployment.• Develops, documents, and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.• Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.• Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.• Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.• Tracks and evaluates software team to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science• 5+ years' experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems• Experience with multiple programming languages, including Java, C++, and Python• Experience leading Agile software development teamsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):• Have one of the following technical experiences:• Linux base OS (such as Ubuntu, Yocto).• Cyber security• Networking programming (such as 5G, WIFI, Bluetooth)• Design and deploy software development tool kit (SDK)• Experience with DevOps tools and processes• Experience in the DO-178C (or equivalent) lifecycleTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
