Job Description


What’s the role?

As a Brand Design Intern, you will be responsible for contributing to the design and execution of campaigns, experiences, and design systems. You will explore creative solutions informed by research, brand positioning, and business goals, and work on projects in service of the broader Marketing Org.


In this role, you will work within guidelines to execute high-quality design work and deliver projects in collaboration with designers, copywriters, partners, and leadership. You will also be responsible for ensuring visual consistency and quality across design assets by sharing progress, providing thoughtful critique, and successfully applying Etsy’s brand standards. In addition, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Etsy brand by implementing new and exciting design solutions to our creative marketplace while receiving valuable mentorship from some of the most talented designers in the industry.


This is a full-time internship position reporting to the Design Manager and the hourly range will be $25-$30 USD . This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn office in an in-person or flex capacity. Learn more about our Flex and Office-based work modes as well as vaccination policy here.

What does the day-to-day look like?


  • Etsy’s internship program is a 12 week program taking place from May 30th - August 18th 2023. 
  • Etsy’s intern program offers Mentorship, Internal panels, Executive Fireside Chats, social events and more!
  • The brand intern will have the opportunity to work alongside other design team members and participate in daily or weekly team meetings to review project progress, discuss new initiatives, and provide feedback to team members. 
  • Additionally interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute brand design strategies for various projects, such as marketing campaigns, and product launches.
  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.


Qualifications


Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:


  • To be successful in this role, you have a portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of core design fundamentals including typography, composition, color theory, and brand guidelines with excellent attention to detail and consistency.
  • Fluency in the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Proficiency in After Effects and Figma
  • You are a collaborative team member who can anticipate questions, independently assess solutions, and think critically and creatively.
