Temporary Learning Designer

Brandeis University is hiring several part-time temporary Learning Designers for the timeframe of April through September of 2025.

The Learning Designer provides course design and development support, and consultation in effective online and digital pedagogy to a wide range of faculty subject matter experts. The Learning Designer supports online course design and development projects, including content development and the course production process; and advises faculty on effective practices and instructional design methods. In the area of instructional design projects, the Learning Designer works with the Associate Director to coordinate stakeholder communications and schedules. The Learning Designer reports to the Associate Director of Learning Design. 

This position is part-time (15-20 hours week). The hiring range is $43.17/hour - $46.12/hour. The temporary Learning Designer’s work can be completed remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide learning design consultation, guidance, and support to faculty subject matter experts in the design and development of online courses.

  • Consult on the development of course outcomes and objectives, faculty-created course materials, development of interactive courseware and multimedia elements, discussion prompts, and assignments and assessments, ensure alignment to course outcomes and recommend effective practices for online course facilitation.

  • Curate external materials to support learning objectives, integrating field best practices, the latest technology, and industry experts.

  • Track course development project completion, Establishes timeline and milestone for deliverables.

  • Ensure project milestones are met and manage internal and external resources.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education or related field.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working as an instructional designer, instructional technologist, or a similar role within a higher education setting.

  • Experience supporting and managing online course design and development projects.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects both independently and in a collaborative environment.

  • Commitment to contributing to the Library’s work in developing an environment that is inclusive and supportive of diversity.

  • Experience with or demonstrated commitment to developing inclusive and equitable learning experiences.

  • Experience with Moodle LMS and H5P
