Position Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Sr. SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. In this role, you will be expected to work autonomously and contribute to several high impact projects including architecting and building the database infrastructure to support our customer’s data needs.  

You will be part of team which will have on-call duties and would need to respond to high priority incident pager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Creating and managing Azure SQL and PostgreSQL instances via Terraform and Azure Portal
• Enhance and optimize existing databases for peak performance  
• Develop and debug stored procedures, views, etc. 
• Expertise with analyzing long running queries (SQL and NoSQL) and make recommendations on rewriting queries, indexes, statistics and infrastructure
• You will be part of team having on-call duties and respond to high priority incident pager  
• Monitor and analyze database performance and ensure effective and efficient utilization of database systems/processes  
• Be a force-multiplier on the velocity and quality of your team   
• Continuously improve how we design, build, and ship software as a highly functional team 

Workplace: or Remote based in US or Canada with willingness and ability to travel to Atlanta, GA for meetings/workshops once per quarter

Must Have Skills:

• 7+ years of practical experience building and supporting Postgres and Azure SQL databases and exposure to NoSQL databases
• Be a subject matter expert on performance tunning for SQL and NoSQL queries
• Proven track record of collaborating with dev teams to build reporting/data aggregating systems
• Good exposure to Azure cloud services
• Advanced knowledge in database administration, including experience with a variety of database, cloud applications, and distributed processing technologies   

Preferred Skills:

• Previous Database Migration and SSIS/ADF exposure a plus   
• Terraform knowledge preferred  
• Experience with Kafka or similar distributed stream processing systems beneficial
