Budget Analyst, Accounting and Budget

PRIMARY DUTY: Responsible for budgetary and financial operations under the supervision of Director of Accounting and Budget

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Prepare and manage the University budget under the supervision of the Director
Research and compile data for the annual budget development process
Interpret, monitor, and analyze budgetary and financial information
Responsible for preparation of budgetary reports and special projects
Initiate or review and approve budget journal entries, capital expenditure and personnel requests
Maintain access security for University account custodians
Establish and maintain chart of accounts in conjunction with State of Missouri guidelines and other accounting principles
Prepare and review regularly scheduled state reports
Evaluate best practices and maximize system functionality to support budget process
Interact and communicate with all levels involved with Northwest budget (i.e. DHEWD, Board of Regents, Northwest Leadership Team, Department Account Custodians)
Train and instruct University departments on budgeting and accounting processes
Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance

Experience: Two years job-related experience

Skills: Analytical; computer; spreadsheet software; independent thinking; understanding of accounting principles; good interpersonal skills; cooperative; able to positively interact with others

WORKING CONDITIONS: Air-conditioned office with regular hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; and occasional evening and weekend hours dependent upon project deadlines

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Personal computer with appropriate software applications, 10 key calculator, multi-line phone, copy machine

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
