Business Development Manager

OVERVIEW

CNBC International is seeking a high-performing individual to drive commercial opportunities for the world’s leading business news network. The Distribution & Business Development group is a small, high-impact team within CNBC International, that partners with C-suite executives to tackle critical challenges and fuel long-term growth. We’re looking for a collaborative, analytical person with a keen understanding of industry trends who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable operating in uncertainty. You will learn how to strategically build CNBC’s arsenal of intellectual property, through brand & content partnerships, as well as how to expand CNBC’s footprint & revenue via existing distribution channels, emerging platforms, and branded affiliates. You will collaborate with senior operational leaders from different functions to lead or support projects from concept to results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively grow licensing revenue in B2B, Clip Licensing, Linear Inflight and identify new forms of content licensing opportunities. Build and acquire IP to grow content licensing as a revenue source.
  • Liaise with NBCU Networks teams in APAC, EMEA and LATAM to ensure they can leverage the full resources of CNBC, and support their negotiations, renewals, new deals to retain and grow affiliate revenues.
  • Lead the day-to-day maintenance of existing JVs and Brand Partners.
  • Support & grow 3rd party programming as a revenue stream.
  • Research and synthesize market data to identify and evaluate new business and partnership opportunities.
  • Perform financial and strategic analysis on competitors and markets.
  • Prepare valuation analysis (model building, scenario testing) to support content deal decisions and negotiations.
  • Create exec-level presentations that clearly and concisely communicate analysis and findings.
  • Support negotiations for new business partnerships.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrable professional experience, preferably in strategy/business development, management consulting or finance.
  • Deep knowledge of the media business with a focus on television and/or digital media.
  • Superior research, analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills and experience working effectively with senior leadership.
  • Curious and fast learner, with a track record of taking on increasing levels of responsibility in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Passion for the news business.
  • BA required, MBA a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Hybrid work environment – (3 days per week in person, Tues-Thurs)
  • Proficient knowledge of the English language; other languages a plus
