SRE is part of the RIQ (Reliability, Infrastructure and Quality) engineering pillar here at CaptivateIQ. Specifically, the SRE team is responsible for the infrastructure that acts as the foundation of our products. We’re shifting left so our engineering teams can be self-sufficient in delivering and operating the product. SRE also owns observability tools, which are relied on across engineering to make sure our user experience remains great. Finally, SRE maintains a close partnership with the Quality Engineering team, who own Release Engineering and Quality Assistance.
The person in this role will have the ability to influence our technical direction, and practices for scaling as we work to deliver the next generation of products to our customers. You should be able to help the engineering organization understand how applying SRE principles like SLOs, load shedding and addressing toil can help make our product more resilient and create more space for our teams to work on important work. You don’t shy away from digging into tricky problems with your colleagues, and working with them to figure out the best path forward.
Responsibilities: - Recruit, inspire, manage and grow a team of 4 SREs
- Mentor the professional development of each engineer through personal and performance management and coaching.
- Lead the team in designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure that allow CaptivateIQ to continue to delight our customers.
- Work closely with engineering leadership to define objectives and strategy to set the direction for the SRE team.
- Build and evangelize best practices, high engineering and security standards, and continuously improve our codebases and processes.
- Participate in the Incident Manager On-Call (AKA IMoC) rotation to provide our engineers on-call support.
Requirements:- 7+ years SRE/DevOps/Cloud Engineering experience in a SaaS environment
- 3+ years of people management and hands-on engineering management for a multi-national team
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills
- Experience managing cloud costs;
- Experience with FinOps would be a plus.
- Experience building and scaling web applications and data-intensive applications
- Past hand-on experience using Python, Terraform and/or Golang
- Previous experience in a high growth, startup company preferred
- Experience managing a distributed engineering team. The CaptivateIQ’s SRE team is located between the US midwest and in Europe.

$180,000 - $252,000 a year
CaptivateIQ takes a market-based approach to pay, and the base salary range for this job posting shows the minimum and maximum target starting base salary. The successful candidate’s starting base salary will be determined based on the candidate’s job-related skills, relevant experience, education, work location, market conditions, and other factors. This range may be modified in the future. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, and other benefits.
