Cartesian is a seed-stage MIT startup on a mission to map the physical world at unprecedented scale and precision. We are cashflow-positive and backed by the highly selective SBIR Award from the US National Science Foundation.By joining Cartesian as we gear up for our first product roll-out, you’ll play a foundational role in shaping the product and company culture. You’ll also be part of a collaborative and intellectually-stimulating work environment in Kendall Square/Cambridge, next to MIT and the Charles River.Responsibilities• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of our native Android application.• Amplify mobile development velocity by improving Cartesian’s mobile architecture, mentoring other engineers, and pushing best practices.• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement novel features, such as real-time user feedback, on-device algorithms, AR guidance, and enterprise device compatibility.• Work closely with the founding team to determine product capabilities, priorities, and development timelines.• Collaborate with the rest of the team to ship stable and performant enterprise products.• As Cartesian grows, your role will grow. We expect the early team to grow as exceptional leaders.Qualifications• Well-rounded, ambitious engineer who has contributed to the full life cycle of a mobile product• 4+ years of experience developing and shipping native Android apps; preferably in a start-up or scale-up environment• Highly proficient in Kotlin & Java, with a strong understanding of common mobile architectures• Knowledgeable in mobile dev-ops and build practices• Someone who thrives in dynamic environments and values speed and hard work• A good communicator who can clearly articulate design decisions and roadblocksNice to Have• Previously led mobile development at an early-stage startup• Experience with high-performance mobile features (real-time algorithms & user feedback, vision pipelines, on-device ML, 3D rendering) using technologies like ARCore, Android NDK, TF Lite, OpenGL, Vulkan• Experience developing for enterprise PDAs (e.g. Zebra, TSL, Honeywell, Bluebird, etc)• Experience with peripherals (Bluetooth, Serial)• Interest in building new technologies that can improve the lives of workers and customers in the retail & supply chain spaceApply here.
