St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is looking to add a Cashier to our Food Services Department. The Cashier operates the cash register, providing prompt and courteous service and is responsible for accuracy of transactions within department stated standards. The Cashier prepares cafeteria for daily operation by stocking food service area as directed, maintains a clean, attractive work area, and performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operates cash register by counting and verifying starting cash amount. Enters each transaction according to designated category (i.e. cash, employee meals patient charges, various charge slips) Maintains register security by complying with departmental security regulations. Counts cash at the end of each shift according to establish policy and notifies supervisor of any errors.
• Provides prompt and courteous customer service. Greets each customer in a friendly and courteous manner. Ensures that registers are manned at all times during operating hours. Utilizes line management skills to minimize customer wait time. Adheres to department’s dress code. Utilizes service recovery techniques as needed and informs supervisor.
• Maintains cash, charges and other financial transactions accurately. Counts cash prior to opening register. Requests change as needed according to department policy. Counts money, charge slips, meal tickets, etc. at the end of each shift. Maintains overages/shortages within department limits. Verifies and records free employee meals.
• Prepares cafeteria for operations: Prepares beverage services including but not limited to brewed coffees, tea dispensers, cappuccino machine and fountain juice and beverage machines. Sets up disposable goods, condiments, and other required items in cafeteria serving area prior to opening and as needed throughout the shift. Prepares supply requisitions as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area and cafeteria. Cleans all equipment and cafeteria surfaces in the Food Service area, following department sanitation and food safety policies and procedures. Ensures that spills/safety hazards are reported promptly. Attends hospital training and department in-service/meetings as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required

Minimum Experience:

• One year of cashier experience is required

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

• (LC: SERVSAFE) ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate Program or another American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handler Training Certificate Program required within 30 days of hire. Employee must maintain current certification during employment.

Schedule:

• Primary shift is Monday-Friday, 11:00am - 5:00pm. Rotating variable weekends and holidays
