Position Summary

The Catering Front Desk Specialist position acts as the primary reception for University Housing’s Catering & Conference Services Office. This position provides customer service and clerical support to Catering Services, Conference Services, and Housing Food Services through the daily entry of catering orders, packing lists, report generation, and front desk reception.

On a daily basis, this position interacts with departmental staff, campus partners, and the public via phone calls, emails, and walk-ins; answers general questions and refers inquiries to appropriate resources according to University policy, Housing guidelines, and SEIU Bargaining Agreement.

This position is a full-time, 12-month position and is supervised by and takes direction from the Catering Sales Manager.

Special Requirement:
  • Have, or ability to obtain a Lane County Food Handler’s Card within 2 weeks of employment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of courses or training in Office Technology; OR
  • One year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and stay organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to understand and follow guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience with catering and hospitality-related software.
  • Experience working in catering and/or the hospitality industry.
