Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Safely operate a heavy tractor-trailer combo rig with a capacity of 40,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). (Vehicle is a Ford 350 with a 40’ pole trailer.)
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle.
- Effectively maneuver equipment in parking lots with obstacles and limited space.
- Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit.
- Transport goods from the place of origin to assigned work location.
- Safely and efficiently handle and load and unload equipment and utility poles.
- Perform inspections of your vehicle and complete the inspection log in Keeptruckin prior to and following each trip.
- Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.).
- Communicate with dispatch as needed, reporting any issues or incidents to dispatch immediately.
- Maintain detailed driving and activity logs in Keeptruckin (using e-logs and vehicle ELD).
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
- Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
- Learn and complete various nondestructive testing methods under the supervision of an Area Lighting Trainer.
- Learn and complete required documentation under the supervision of an area lighting trainer
- Other duties as assigned.
Certifications
- Valid Class A Commercial driver’s license
- MT/VT Crane Operator
Qualifications
- Must be a highly productive member of a 2 to 3 area lighting replacement team.
