About the team/role
As the Manager, Business Development, you will hire, develop, and manage a highly driven and hardworking team of lead generation and lead qualification professionals. This team is responsible for sourcing and qualifying new business sales opportunities while delivering value to prospective Checkr customers. You have proven experience recruiting, coaching and managing a team to achieve daily, weekly and monthly targets in addition to delivering feedback to marketing and sales leadership for process improvements. The Business Development team is often the first interaction for prospective Checkr customers and is key to the success of our Sales organization.
What you’ll do:
• Hire, develop and lead a team of Business Development Representatives to accelerate revenue growth
• Evolve the sales, product and industry skills of each team member
• Manage and report on team and individual results - activity, lead quantity and quality, and pipe generation
• Motivate the team to exceed set goals through coaching, creative incentives, and creating visibility on results
• Build a winning culture by leading with positivity, mentoring BDRs in weekly meetings and developing them into the next generation of sellers at Checkr
• Work closely with Marketing on campaign follow-up and reporting
• Work closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to build prospecting playbooks and strategy
• Use creativity to improve our process, how we target and penetrate accounts, and drive efficiency
• Proficient in Salesforce, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and ZoomInfo
What you bring:
• 2+ years of experience managing a high-performing BDR team, preferably in SaaS or a consumption based business
• 4+ years of experience as an individual contributor in Sales roles, preferably in SaaS or a consumption based business
• Demonstrable track record of consistent high performance
• Experienced coach and an energetic and tenacious team player
• Growth mindset, you view setbacks as opportunities to learn and thrive in the building stages
• Strong analytical mindset and enjoy problem solving
• Excellent time management and outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Understand and use a specific sales methodology
• Experience selling HR technology is a plus

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The on-target earnings range for this role is CAD182,485 to CAD246,892 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
