Child Life Assistant PRN

The Child Life Assistant PRN is responsible for activities in the playroom. as instructed by the Child Life Specialist, while monitoring the safety of the children, as well as providing a child friendly environment.
Shift
Pick up at least 4 weekend days a month. Hours are 8:30a to 5p Responsibilities

Maintain a safe environment in the playroom, monitor general health needs in the playroom and ask for assistance from nursing when appropriate; provide toys and activities that are appropriate for a wide developmental range of children; take developmentally appropriate toys and activities to individual patients confined to rooms; and set up the playroom activities, supervise the activities and clean up area.
Provide input to the Child Life Specialist about observed specific needs of individual children; determine when the needs of individual children should be attended to by medical professionals and/or outside the general scope of the role of the Child Life Assistant.
Provide guidance to community groups visiting the playroom(s); supervise volunteers assisting in the playroom; assist with acceptance of donations and materials handling for the department.
Work Experience
Required: At least 1 year of experience in childcare.
Education
Required: Highschool diploma or equivalent
Preferred: College coursework in childcare development
