Overview

**The ideal candidate will have experience in HVAC, Plumbing and Basic Electrical**

 

The Operating Engineer III is responsible for carrying out the direction of the department director to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all patients, parents, visitors, and employees of the hospital. The Operator is responsible for the operation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of all fixed and non-fixed non-patient equipment, medical gas systems, and HVAC systems in the hospital. The Operator is responsible for carrying out continuous quality improvement efforts. The Operator assists in developing new procedures, work practices, and data collection, to comply with all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes/requirements.

 

This is a 1st Shift, Mon-Fri role at our Overland Park, KS location.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all equipment and systems for which the Engineering Department is responsible.
  • Performs all work to ensure all City, State, Federal, OSHA, NFPA, and JCAHO codes and requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Effectively evaluate building needs and take steps to efficiently use energy sources to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years experience (prefer hospital experience)
  • Employees must obtain Licensed Operating Engineer Class A or equivalent within 365 days
  • Class A Operating Engineers License Required 1 Year
  • EPA Refrigerant License Required 1 Year

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $27.62/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
