Apply now to see where your career at CHOC can take you.Job SummaryThe Financial Coordinator PD is responsible for performing preadmission, insurance verification, financial counseling, and monitoring the quality of all required accounts that are scheduled through Centralized Scheduling and Patient Access and outpatient accounts scheduled by the individual departments. Routinely interacts with various internal departments including registration, admitting, and schedulers. Works as a liaison between insurance carrier, physician office, and clinical personnel within departments referrals to assure authorization and pre-registration for all services are in place prior to service.Pay RangeMinimum $28.00 Midpoint $28.00 Maximum $29.00Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.Experience• Required: Minimum two (2) years of front office experience or one (1) year of experience in a high-volume call center in a customer service-related industry.• Preferred: One (1) year of experience in pre-registration, insurance authorization in an acute care hospital setting, particularly in surgery or radiology, strongly preferred.Education• Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent.• Preferred: Associate's or bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.Training• Required: None required.• Preferred: Experience with insurance authorization process. Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or CHAR certification.Specialized Skills• Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills. Strong knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area such as Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to pleasantly handle interruptions in work tasks due to greeting people and answering multiple phone lines. Excellent interpersonal skills, maturity, and judgement with the ability to work harmoniously with others.• Preferred: Strong knowledge of pre-registration and insurance verification software products. Bilingual in English/ Spanish.Licensure• Required: RQI Responder - American Heart Association; Comprehensive Crisis Management within 90 days of hire.Work Environments - Functional DemandLight - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs.
