Cinematographer & Manager, Production Facilities

The Cinematographer and Manager, Production Facilities is a staff expert and leader in the use and operation of production equipment on set, with the know-how to shepherd a project through the production and post-production processes. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of production facilities and act as a training and information resource for the students hired by Emerson Productions.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Emerson Productions' production facilities, including scheduling, maintenance, and equipment inventory
  • Manage a team of production student workers, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager and Creative Producer and other key stakeholders to develop and execute production plans for a variety of projects
  • Serve as the primary cinematographer and lighting designer for Emerson Productions' projects, ensuring high-quality production values
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, equipment, and techniques, and make recommendations for improvements to Emerson Productions' facilities and processes
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols for production facilities and equipment
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in production and post production. Assist with the implementation of new or expanding technologies, equipment and software impacting the production facilities
  • Establish and maintain contact with existing and potential vendors of equipment and software for future production activities and acquisitions. When requested, attend relevant trade shows, vendor visits, seminars, etc
  • Collaborate with other managers to define goals and establish department objectives. Attend weekly team meetings to discuss ongoing facilities operations, budgets, and client relationships and to review periodic and annual departmental goals
  • Assist with development of collateral materials on relevant equipment, software and best practices
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in film, cinematography, or related field required
  • Bachelor's Degree in film production preferred. Master's Degree desirable but not necessary
  • 5+ years of experience in cinematography and lighting design, with a strong portfolio of work
  • 3+ years of experience managing production facilities and equipment, with a proven track record of success

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of industry-standard production equipment and software, including cameras, lighting, grip, and post-production software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with all safety regulations and protocols
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a high demand and fast-paced academic environment
  • Understanding of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro CC, DaVinci Resolve preferred
  • Digital Cameras: Canon C500 mk II, Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro preferred
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and performing base-level maintenance and repairs preferred

  • This is an on-site position, requiring your presence during regular business hours
  • Infrequent nights and weekends production schedule
  • Office and Production environments

COMPENSATION

Starting salary for this position will be between $61,058 - $ 74,796 annually, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: S-23-08E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
