People Operations Manager

What is Cirkul?

The team at Cirkul developed an innovative beverage delivery system that makes drinking more water delicious, fun, and personalized. The technology reduces the shipping weight of bottled beverages by 96% and uses 84% less plastic. Cirkul offers its customers 100+ unique flavors, all with no sugar, zero calories, no artificial colors, and a range of functional enhancements online, at Walmart, and other retailers across the United States. Hundreds of thousands of consumers are using Cirkul to transition from single-use plastics and sugar-filled beverages to healthier, better-for-you alternatives.

What is this role? 

As the Manager, People Business Partner for Cirkul, you will be responsible for driving the people strategy, policy, and programs for the new Cirkul West facility in Utah. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, and in partnership with the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the training, talent management, and retention programs for current and prospective employees. Additionally, you will be the subject matter expert regarding employee relations actions, investigations, and labor relations matters.

 

What does an average day look like? 

  • Driving Results: 
    • Drive a People function that emphasizes processes, systems, and tools for compliance and efficiency, while delivering a best-in-class employee experience and providing a strategic view of talent solutions and engagement aligned with business needs.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. Manage employee safety and wellness programs (ADA, FMLA, LOA, etc.), EEO and Workers Compensation.  Deep knowledge of Utah employment laws is a plus.
    • Measure, analyze and evolve HR operations using metrics. Oversee plant-level actions for training and development, performance management, and corrective actions.

Taking Ownership: 

    • Enforce and inform People plans, policies, and initiatives aligned with our mission and core values including performance management, employee relations, and engagement.
    • Support scalable learning and organizational development programs that aid in growing our company's capabilities and drive employee retention.

Making Decisions: 

    • As the trusted advisor to the Plant Manager, provide guidance, policy review, insights, and recommendations for all people actions including, but not limited to talent alignment, employee relations, corrective actions, employee retention, engagement activities, labor laws, and HR best practices.
    • Ensure performance management process enables managers to partner with HR to effectively manage employee performance and employee relations.

Cultivating Relationships: 

    • Understand and leverage internal relationships, partnering with peers and stakeholders to achieve desired goals. 
    • Be able to craft coherent and effective communication strategies, adapting tone, style, pace, and medium to reach the desired audience.
    • Must demonstrate integrity, poise, empathy, and professionalism in employee encounters, earning trust of managers and employees alike; always representing best interests of the company.

What background should you have? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 7+ years of experience in as an HR Generalist or Business Partner
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work both hands on and strategically with your team
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations in Utah
  • Strong consultative skills and highly effective in communicating both verbally and written
  • Ability to solve complex problems using best practices, knowledge of internal and external business issues to provide a new perspective on existing solutions and/or create new solutions
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
