The SFDPH Office of Health Equity (OHE) was established in 2019 to increase resources, coordination, and support for efforts to advance health and workplace equity across the department. OHE is responsible for a range of activities related to equity, particularly racial equity. These include staff and leadership training, community engagement, external and internal collaboration, and direct service to target populations. On a strategic level, OHE is a partner in overall planning, tracking and evaluation of SFDPH equity work. Advancing equity work is the responsibility of every SFDPH employee. The Office of Health Equity supports staff and sections in meeting that responsibility.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health’s Office of Health Equity is accepting applications for one (1) full-time position in class 9924 Public Service Aide – Health Services, Health Equity Intern.
The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of multiple divisions - the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services.
Under immediate supervision, the 9924 Public Service Aide will support health care services by organizing documents, preparing data reports, assisting with logistical support for staff and events, and engaging in community and equity-related initiatives.
