Civil Engineering Intern (Water Resources)

The Opportunity:

RS&H is seeking a Fall 2023 Water Resources Engineering Intern to support the Transportation Business Unit in our Jacksonville, FL office.

The Water Resources Engineering Intern will be mentored by and will collaborate with top engineering design associates within the Water Resources and Highway Team. This position will be engaged on a large variety of transportation-focused projects, from large and complex expressway/interstate roadway facilities to smaller, safety-focused pedestrian improvements. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation and Water Resources engineering fields.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
Prepare and revise plan documents details
Collect and prepare data for evaluation
Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications:

Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior internship or related experience
AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience
Experience or exposure to the Florida Department of Transportation’s FDM and design standards
Specific interest in Transportation / Water Resources
