As part of a diverse and hardworking team of technicians, you will mainly perform material handling of parts between customers onsite. This will involve loading/unloading of parts and tracking part locations. Other general duties involved in the chemical processing and precision cleaning and inspection of aerospace hardware for various spaceflight systems will be supplemental to material handling duties. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of propulsion module, engine, and subassembly manufacturing. The Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification Lab is a critical part of the
company’s Integrated Supply Chain. A technician in this role will perform daily tasks including:
  • Hydro-proof tubing/piping/components for acceptance.
  • Disassemble/Inspect/rebuild/test components.
  • Safely handle hardware utilizing overhead cranes, hoists, and associated lifting equipment.
  • Use titration and other direct measurement methods to analyze and correct lab solvent/chemical systems.
  • Use various methods to provide identifying features to hardware per technical documentation.
  • Inspect hardware using visual, ultraviolet light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods.
  • Perform shop level maintenance and calibration of equipment such as pumps, tanks, filtration systems, scales, etc.
  • Conduct general housekeeping of lab and certified clean room area.
  • Follow safety regulations and wear protective eyewear, steel toe boots, and other applicable personal protective equipment.
  • Package accepted hardware and supplies for storage or shipment.
  • Pick up and drop off components at customer location.
  • Our team is a direct supplier to all of Blue’s Business Units, and executes for New Shepard, New Glenn, Blue Moon, and the Blue Engines programs. The Kent, WA Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification team provides a crucial, integrated service that supplies all 4 of the Blue Origin operational sites.
Qualifications:
  • Clean and passivate hardware using means such as solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.
  • Strong attention to detail, desire to solve problems, and drive to resolve technical issues.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize hand tools, power tools and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 lbs. and use lifting equipment and machinery for heavier hardware.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, prove ability to follow direction, and meet expectations.
  • Disassemble/Inspect/rebuild/test components.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to support one of the following production work schedules:
  • A Rotation – Monday through following weeks Tuesday 7:00am – 5:30pm
  • B Rotation – Monday through following Tuesday 7:00am – 5:30pm
  • 5-2 Rotation – Monday through Friday 7:00am – 5:30pm
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Prior experience in inventory and material handling.
  • Prior experience in precision cleaning of aerospace, medical or other precision components.
  • Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating or inspecting aerospace mechanical components or fluids systems.
