Compliance Consultant

Join our attorney team as a Compliance Consultant to provide analytical and research compliance support to the client service department and our employer clients in the following areas related to employee health & welfare benefit plans, including but not limited to: ERISA, IRC sections 125, 105, 106, 129; HIPAA; COBRA; account-based plans such as HRAs, HSAs, FSAs; Medicare; as well as on other federal, state, and local regulations affecting health & welfare benefit plans. In addition, you will work to stay informed and provide expertise on all new benefits-related legislation, while working cross-functionally to communicate the related regulatory updates, build new and efficient operating processes, hold internal and client-facing subject matter training, and draft client-facing communications.

What you get to do:

  • Provide regular guidance and support to our employee benefits client service department and work closely with many other internal teams on various compliance matters (such as legal and/or operational teams);
  • Research and answer compliance questions from internal service teams and clients;
  • Work to continuously understand the needs of our various market sizes and programs;
  • Help develop intellectual capital and resources on compliance related topics;
  • Create and deliver subject matter expertise and training to internal teams and/or clients;
  • Implement internal processes to benefit our client service teams on our compliance delivery;
  • Assist with vendor/carrier compliance support and escalations;
  • Monitor and update resource material to reflect current laws;
  • Provide support related to key compliance team initiatives;
  • Assist in the management of our client resources and communications, including FAQs, templates, and newsletter content relating to new legislation and guidance; and
  • Actively monitor/review new rules and regulations and systematically roll out information to clients and internal teams.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's and Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required;
  • 2+ years of experience working directly in ERISA health & welfare benefit plan compliance;
  • Close and meticulous attention to detail is required due to a high volume of legal content management;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven project and time management skills - experience working with cross-functional teams;
  • Detail and process-oriented individual with strong analytical and research skills
  • Experience taking complex rules and regulations and distilling them down to digestible, actionable items;
  • Established public speaking and presentation/training skills;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and
  • Ability to multi-task and stay on deadline in a fast-paced environment.
