What does the job entail?

General Summary:
The BSA Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting the bank’s BSA/AML Program. The incumbent must assist in ensuring Compliance with all applicable BSA/AML and OFAC rules and regulations in each business area; follow all procedures that will ensure the firm’s compliance with the applicable rules and regulations; and perform internal quality assurance as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and Support the BSA/AML Compliance training program as needed, including documenting/ tracking of new employee training, regular training, Campus BBVA, ACAMS, etc. among others.the attendance of outside training by the BSA Department for Internal Auditors and/or regulators.
  • Provide annual support to maintain and perform on a timely basis the annual BSA/AML and Sanctions/OFAC risk assessments to determine areas of additional risk or opportunities to further mitigate risks.
  • Responsible for BSA/ AML and OFAC Reporting, including ad hoc, monthly and quarterly metrics to local, regional and global management.
  • Support the advisory function of the Compliance team in logging internal advisory requests, gathering facts, facilitating documented assessments, and issuing written final responses.
  • Provide support to coordinate and organize the responses from different stakeholder teams related to NY Department of Financial Services 504 annual Certification within required timeframes.
  • Provide support to coordinate and organize the requests and/or responses regarding internal and external testing, such as Compliance Testing, Internal Audit, and Regulatory examinations.
  • Responsible for maintaining an updated repository inventory of US Compliance issue management items as well as the inventory of policies and procedures etc.
  • Must be able to identify BSA/AML Compliance risk and properly escalate all matters accordingly.
  • Will work on special projects and assignments as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in Compliance (BSA/AML & Sanctions)
  • Intermediate skills in Excel with knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-ups, pivot tables, charts, graphing and macros.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to qualitatively research and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to explain new AML requirements and help develop best practice processes to comply with regulations and policies.
  • Must be a team player, and be able to interface with Senior Management and exhibit a high level of professionalism.
  • Must possess technical knowledge of BSA / AML, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC Sanctions Programs, Know Your Customer (KYC), and payment review and analysis.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience in dealing with U.S. regulators preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with Internal Auditors preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish, highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently or with limited supervision on highly sensitive matters.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $85,000.00 - 95,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
