About the team:

DLR Group’s Design Technology team consists of diversified discipline technologists made up of Digital Practice, Digital Design, Digital Services, and R&D. Digital Practice is focused on implementation and support of design technology tools for our design teams across DLR Group’s integrated design practice. The Digital Design Team builds the new tools to support our enterprise and leverages it’s technical skillset to aid teams in solving complex design problems. Digital Services is focused on growth of client facing services through the use of our design technology tools.

Job Summary:

Our digital design team is looking for a creative coder to rapidly deploy working prototypes and scalable computational design solutions using modern technologies with a heavy focus on gaming. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating immersive virtual environments, collaborating with designers and the broader Design Technology Team within the digital design group. This person would focus on developing digital tools to design, review, and augment our existing design processes. Our team is focused on developing a design pipeline from our primary design applications into Unreal Engine for digital review, design, and presentation and this role would co-create those applications with our computational development team.

Responsibilities:

• Champion the Design Technology team within DLR Group
• Collaborate with the broader digital design team to develop and implement computational design tools to be used by designers at DLR Group
• Development of gaming objects and user interfaces within Unreal Engine
• Development of internal applications and external client facing applications as needed
• Develop prototypes for R&D efforts for developing the future development pipeline
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends within the architecture industry
• Serve as a key subject matter expert for Unreal Engine for the Digital Practice team to support the custom applications developed by this team
• Work with the Design Technology Leadership to help maintain our leading edge strategy

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in AEC industry, computer science, or other related field
• Ability to write, document, and maintain code within a team
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise
• Working experience with Github repository
• Egoless attitude that welcomes feedback and criticism of tools and enjoys working collaboratively
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with development of tools for multiple devices
• Understanding of VR, AR, and XR
• Creative problem solver with a passion for enabling designers to design
• Knowledge of C++ and Blueprints
• Understanding of Game Development pipelines and workflows
• Experience with graphics processes and development (Writing shaders, etc)
• Familiarity with AEC 3d modeling tools
