BASIC PURPOSE:Solicit, book, plan and coordinate wedding-related and special events in one of Delaware’s premier venues while maximizing available banquet space in an effort to meet and exceed established budgeted sales goals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Solicit, negotiate and book wedding business to meet/exceed established sales goals through various methods (e.g. outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc.) and simultaneously maximize use of banquet space.2. Efficiently and thoroughly perform administrative tasks which could include answering phones, processing payments, data entry, filing, and setting appointments.3. Plan, up-sell and detail functions with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes and decorations.4. Schedule and coordinate tastings with clients and culinary department.5. Complete contracts and prepare appropriate paperwork, including Banquet Event Orders to communicate expectations with client and coordinate function details with all departments.6. Attend booked events and assist in ensuring flawless execution by Banquet staff. Requires regular weekend presence.7. Resolve client and guest issues, including complaints and problems to ensure high quality of events and unwavering client/customer satisfaction.8. Prepare status and period end reports.9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procedures and products, as well as the competition's product, strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and promote the achievement of goals.10. Manage our reputation through local networking and maintaining positive presence on wedding sites such as Wedding Wire, TheKnot, and Mywedding.com.11. Contribute to a supportive and positive team atmosphere.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Participate in communication and networking events with professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales.2. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.EDUCATION:High school graduate or equivalent required. Four year college degree preferred.EXPERIENCE:A minimum of one year experience in a sales with specific wedding sales experience preferred.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:1. Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the wedding, catering, and hospitality professions required.2. Ability to investigate and analyze activities and/or information in order to present logical conclusions and recommendations required.3. Must possess strong communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence clients and guests.4. Ability to meet standards of upscale, professional appearance required. Must project an upbeat, yet sophisticated demeanor.5. Ability to maintain high standards of ethics required.6. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software programs required.7. Ability to drive to outside sales calls.
