Quality Technician

Seeking a Lab Tech to join a Food Company in Southern New Jersey.This is a 2nd shift role (2-10:30pm).Essential Functions:General:\tConduct self in a professional and cooperative manner at all times.\tKnow and understand Food Safety Principles: HACCP, GMP’s.\tKnow and understand Laboratory Safety Principles, GLP’s and safety procedures.\tKnow and understand Microbiology (preferably as it pertains to food) Principles.\tKnow and understand Quality Assurance and Control principles as they relate to the daily QA activities assigned.\tAlways conduct self in a safe manner as per Company Policy.\tCommitted to providing a safe food product\tWorks within all regulatory requirements\tAbility to adhere to GMP practices and all other food safety requirements\tPerform all other related duties as requiredSpecific:\tMaintain work areas, laboratory areas and rooms in a clean and orderly manner.\tMaintain laboratory instruments and equipment for testing and inspection in a safe, clean and professional manner.\tMaintain records, logs and notebooks.\tRetain records properly as assigned.\tEnter data into the Quality Module of SAP accurately and in a timely manner.\tConduct transactions in SAP as required.\tMaintain, update procedures, conduct required and appropriate training (MM & MP in QDS) as required.\tPerform projects and special requests (committees, continuous improvement, etc.).\tPerform sample preparation as required.\tPerform testing and inspections as it pertains to analytical, sensory and microbiological testing, review results and communicate non-conformances, maintain appropriate logs.\tConduct environmental monitoring program and corrective actions, GMP’s as assigned.\tTrain and update fellow staff and plant personnel in quality test procedures and methods as required.\tConduct audits as assigned and required (GMP, ISO, special).\tSubmit reports: NCR’S, environmental, test frequency, audits (GMP, ISO, Product Shelf Life, etc.) required.\tParticipate in third party and internal audits as assigned.\tCommunicate issues in a timely, accurate and professional manner – verbally, e-mail, databases, SAP, etc.\tMaintain supplies and inventory in an efficient manner and submit requests for supplies as necessary in a timely manner.\tManage daily activities in an effective and efficient manner, minimize need for overtime.Job Requirements\tBA/BS degree (Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry preferred).\tHigh level of computer competency (SAP, Microsoft Office).\tExcellent written and oral communication skills.\tHigh level of experience in the Food Industry or related GMP regulated industry highly desirable.\tUnderstanding of Food Safety, HACCP, GMP principles highly desirable.Only local candidates will be considered.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
