Consulting Director, Digital

The Role
The Guidewire Digital Services organization is a group of highly motivated digital engineers, user experience designers, and domain experts working with insurance clients, InsurTechs and delivery partners in current, leading-edge technologies delivering exciting, customer-facing projects.

We are looking for a senior level, experienced talent management director (we call them Consulting Director) to lead a global team of Consulting Managers within our practice. The Consulting Managers in our team advocate for, and coach a team of remote or office based digital advisory and delivery experts.
Each Consulting Manager has a group of ~25 people to manage. They will be responsible for elements of hiring and onboarding, staffing and capacity planning, ongoing performance and development of their team members, and ensuring their success and continued growth at Guidewire.
Reporting into the VP for Digital, the Consulting Director will lead our Digital Services management team. You work with your fellow Consulting Management team to lead our talent pool in delivering global digital initiatives as we continually look to improve and grow.

Key responsibilities include the following:

    • Managing a team of consulting managers to implement the overall digital services operating model
    • Working collaboratively with the Digital services leadership in ensuring the overall talent strategy and plans are implemented successfully
    • Accountable for our talent KPIs for digital and in enabling the Consulting Managers in ensuring these KPIs are met
    • Line management of a cross-section of our senior level Digital, Business and UX experts along with other Consulting Managers
    • Responsible for talent performance and management across the digital services organization
    • Advise the leadership team on talent acquisition, performance and management activities
    • Engage in capacity/resource planning in coordination with other CMs and staffing resource manager
    • Lead organizational efforts such as workforce planning, knowledge management, and succession planning
    • Participate in senior candidate interviews and hiring decisions
    • Manage performance issues and any arising internal conflict to resolution
    • Make recommendations for promotions and/or salary actions by gathering necessary feedback for informed decision-making
    • Ensure available training and collateral (e.g. new product roll-out or skills development) is communicated to staff
    • Monitor usage of paid time off to ensure work/life balance
    • Coordinate and project manage completion of internal initiatives as assigned
    • Provide necessary mentoring and support to consultant as needed
    • Serves as mediator to internal issues and conflicting priorities for members of cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing solutions to clients

Experience required:

    • Cultural fit to our values of Integrity, Rationality, and Collegiality
    • Must have experience as a people manager in a consulting organization or similar services organization delivering technology enabled transformation. You may have come from a technical background, having moved into a people management capacity
    • Experience in driving organization change management across teams and developing high performing organizations and has demonstrated success with aligning teams to meet company and functional objectives
    • Experience managing remote consulting teams is highly desirable
    • Demonstrated success as a manager with ability to hire, mentor, coach and develop Consulting staff
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a related field required
    • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
